Penta of the Chopped-off Hands and Diamonds and Toads are both fairy tale adaptations using three channels of short, looping video. Using an editing structure evocative of the Vine video (six seconds of content and looped), I wish to render the seemingly “timeless” form of the fairy tale through undeniably contemporary and historical aesthetic conditions.  Likewise, the specific content adapted was chosen for its vivid imagery of masochism and punishment to thematize a visual culture increasingly populated with short, punctuated forms of endless repetition.
